The sbt Beatenberg

• Our campus is located in the heart of Switzerland, above Lake Thun, not far from Interlaken.
• The sbt includes the theological training center
• as well as a guest house offering various educational and leisure activities for children, young people, and adults.
• The guesthouse is a member of the Association of Christian Hotels in Switzerland (VCH).

Who?

Participation in an FIJ (in the IJFD program = International Youth Volunteer Service) is aimed at people aged 18 to 26 who have German citizenship (or a residence permit for Germany) and have been living in Germany for several years.

• In your free time, you can choose from an extremely wide range of winter and summer sports activities.

Areas of application

As an IJFD participant, you will work in the following areas at sbt:

Housekeeping: Kitchen

• Production and preparation of a wide variety of dishes
• Decoration and design of festive buffets
• dishwashing

Housekeeping: Service

• Serving the food
• Supervision of the buffet
• Design of the various conference and dining rooms

Housekeeping: Floor/housekeeping

• Maintenance and cleaning of guest rooms/floors

Facilities management/building services

• Maintenance of our extensive outdoor facilities
• Mowing and maintaining meadows, lawns, and slopes; tree felling

Accommodation and meals

You will live in a (double) room on the sbt campus. Together with the sbt students, you will share your life, enjoy your free time, and much more. At sbt, you don’t have to worry about meals either, as our kitchen crew will take care of that for you! You will benefit from full service for all three meals and won’t have to shop, cook, or wash up yourself. You can use this valuable time to socialize or enjoy outdoor sports.

Our meals are healthy and nutritious. We also make sure that our meals are balanced. Vegetarian options are available upon request. We can cater for gluten or lactose intolerances. For other or combined intolerances, please contact the guest house in advance to find out what options we can offer you.

What is a Voluntary International Year (FIJ) in Switzerland?

• Spending a year abroad, or even just a few months, is the dream of many young adults who have finished school but do not yet want to start university or vocational training.
• The International Youth Volunteer Service (IJFD) is one way to make this dream of spending a year abroad come true.
